This week, Douglas (my go-to “Water Wizard” and natural scientist) and I took a deep dive into the midwinter festival of Imbolc. This ancient celebration marks the midpoint between winter and spring, symbolizing fertility, hope, and the return of light. Together, we explored the festival’s roots, its connections to St. Brigid; a fascinating figure who bridges mythology and Christianity, and its ties to the agricultural calendar and age-old fire ceremonies.
Beyond Imbolc: A Journey into Earth Connection
Douglas shared so much wisdom about the eightfold calendar and how ancient people marked the seasons. Honestly, it was amazing to learn how deeply connected they were to the rhythms of the earth and the skies.
I also shared a glimpse into Brigid’s beautiful and enduring legacy, including traditional customs like crafting Brigid’s Crosses from rushes and her association with fire and transformation.
If you’re a fan of stargazing, we also talked about how stunning the skies are right now. Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn have been putting on quite the show! It’s incredible how these celestial movements tie into ancient rituals, reminding us of the profound connection between what’s above us and what’s below.
